On 8 September, our Business Development team travelled to Berlin to attend annual tech tradeshow, IFA. Recognised as the CES of Europe, IFA 2019 was host to over 1800 exhibitors and welcomed over 250,000 visitors - making it one of the biggest Consumer Electronics conventions in the world. According to IFA organiser, Hans-Joachim Kamp the event is designed to “preview products and technologies that will influence tomorrow’s lifestyle”.
Globally, Europe remains the second largest technology market with a 25% share, behind China at 27%. As Europe’s stage for pioneering innovation, this year’s event showcased trends in AI technology, 8K televisions, voice-controlled smart home devices, 5G, folding screens, digital health and more.
Without an all singing, all dancing new technology announcement to steal the show this year, the focus remained on the prevalence of co-innovation within the tech sector. An ecosystem of connected devices is being created through joint efforts of emerging and existing technologies. Currently, “31% of millennials own three or more connected devices”, and that figure is set to rise as security measures tighten and consumers’ trust in tech increases. IFA 2019 was proof that the tomorrow of technology is a connected, smarter and more efficient way of living.
